Joining the Prep School

Whilst most new pupils normally start in the Autumn Term, we welcome applications to the Prep School throughout the year as long as there is availability. Places in popular year groups such as Reception, Year 3 and Year 5 can be subject to waiting list.

The first step in all cases is to request a prospectus, alternatively you can call our Admissions Team on 01963 211010 or email:

School Visit

We encourage all prospective families to visit the school either for one of our Open Doors events or a personal visit.

Open Doors are an excellent way to get a feel for Leweston and see the school ‘in action’. There is an event each half term when the whole school is available to tour and staff and pupils available to answer questions.Dates are available on our Open Days page, where you can also register.

If you cannot attend on those dates or would like an individual visit to meet the Head, Miss Phillips, our Registrar, Claire Godman-Dorington, would be happy to make arrangements. It is entirely up to you if you would like to bring your children with you on the first visit but all prospective pupils have a taster day as part of the admissions process.

Registration secures a place for your child in their chosen year of entry, subject to offer and acceptance. To register, parents complete a Registration Form and pay a non-refundable fee of £75. Pupils needs to be registered before applying for a scholarship, bursary or attending a taster day.

Taster Day

Following registration we invite your child for a ‘taster day’ when they come into school and spend a day with their prospective year group. You will have the opportunity to meet their Teacher and your child will be looked after by a ‘guardian angel’ (another pupil in their class who will stay with them all day). If your child has a favourite subject or activity please let Admissions know and we will do our best to plan their taster accordingly. You are also very welcome to contact the Class Rep for your child’s year group, a current parent who would be willing to answer any questions you might have, Admissions can provide details.

Entrance Assessment

Whilst we are a non-selective school all pupils are informally assessed in literacy and numeracy prior to entry. This is done as part of the taster day.

Offer and Acceptance of a place

A place is formally offered following your child’s taster and assessment. To accept the offer we ask you to pay a deposit and sign the parent contract which guarantees the place. A New Pupil’s Pack will then be sent to you ahead of your child’s start date.
