Leweston hailed as ‘a hidden gem’ in 2017 Good Schools’ Guide Review

Following a visit from the Good Schools Guide in May, we are delighted to share our most recent review, an overwhelming endorsement of all that makes Leweston such a special school.  We have pulled out some key quotes below but you can download the whole review at the bottom of this page.

Leweston is a hidden gem in a stunning setting, definitely worth a look by parents looking for a small, friendly school that achieves good results. The girls work hard, make lifelong friends and absolutely love the place.

The girls we met were enthusiastic, unpretentious and charming, with a sense of fun.

The school is warm and welcoming and the girls like the fact that they are encouraged to achieve their potential. ‘Everyone is kind to you here,’ a year 6 girl told us.

The atmosphere everywhere is friendly, yet purposeful. As one parent put it: ‘We wanted somewhere that would stretch our girls, whilst giving them the confidence to be themselves. We didn’t want a product.

A plethora of clubs and activities on offer.

Results are good, particularly so when the school is non-selective. In 2016, 34 per cent A*/A at GCSE, 41 per cent A*/A at A level or Pre-U equivalent…When it comes to value-added, performance at GCSE consistently ranks Leweston in the top 10 per cent of schools nationally.

The review is the first since Kate Reynolds took up the post of Head in 2015 and she comments,
I am thrilled that the GSG have managed to get a feel for Leweston from only a few hours spent here.  As usual, our pupils impressed them with their academic and extra-curricular achievements, positive attitude, the welcoming and supportive environment they create and most importantly, their happiness and love for the school.
