Leweston Prep dazzle with their Production of ‘Geriantics’

"Have you ever wondered what the residents in a care home get up to while the members of staff are not looking? ‘Geriantics’ takes you on a comical journey from toe tapping songs to the rekindling of youth as the residents break every rule in the book in order to execute their secret mission. Looking back at the old days with fondness is good but there is nothing like becoming a local celebrity to enhance the energy levels!"  - Written by Esther Robotham and Jane Robotham.

After weeks of hard work, research and rehearsals, Year 3 to Year 6 put on three outstanding performances of their Production, 'Geriantics'. The pupils visited The Old Vicarage Care home in Leigh where they spoke to the residents to get a feel for what life is like living in a care home. They then worked with determination on their scripts, singing and fantastic costumes.

Thank you to Leweston's Head of Prep Music and Performing Arts, Jane Robotham for writing the comical script, and to Jane's daughter and Old Antonian, Esther for writing the fantastic music. Esther went on to study a degree in Music specialising in composition after leaving Leweston and 'Geriantics' was Esther's first commissioned piece since completing her degree.

Leweston would also like to thank The Old Vicarage for being so welcoming and helpful, St Mary's Marnhull, Preston Primary and Leweston Prep's friends and family for coming to watch the pupil's hard work be brought to life, and of course to the pupils for working so hard to put on a dazzling performance!
