Children Raise Money for Haiti

The children at Leweston Prep raised an amazing £440 for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal in just two hours on Monday morning!

The student representatives from each Form agreed that the school should use the theme 'Night Time and Teddy Bears' to raise money.  By wearing pyjamas the children felt that they would raise awareness of the plight of the people of Haiti who have few clothes, no food or water and many are now orphans.

Having also learnt about the country's turbulent history and vulnerability to natural disasters, the school community raised over £440.  Many of the children donated their own pocket money.

The school is hoping to raise just £50 more so that it can purchase a Shelterbox from the Shelterbox Trust - organised and administered by the Rotary Club.  This would provide shelter and warmth for up to ten people in Haiti for a prolonged period.
