First Holy Communions

At the Mass on Pentecost Sunday, ten young people from Leweston Prep and Sunday congregation made their First Holy Communion.  The school chapel was full to the brim for this important moment in their lives and for their families.  For some months they had been prepared by a catechist from our own prep school staff, April Walker-Bambury.

The Chaplain, Fr Richard, was the celebrant, assisted by his predecessor, Fr Peter Knott SJ, now a Governor of Leweston.

For the first time on such an occasion there was a choir from the prep school, directed by Mrs Jane Robotham.  Refreshments in the school’s Dining Room followed the Mass;  the centrepiece was a fine First Communion cake, made by Mrs Sue Larkin of the school’s Home Economics department and decorated by members of her Sugar Craft Club.
