German GCSE
The GCSE examines the four skills of listening, reading, writing and oral. For listening pupils listen to a tape of authentic texts and answer (mostly in German) to show comprehension. Reading again, presents authentic texts with candidates answering comprehension questions in the target language, as well as English. The writing consists of two task pieces of 200 words each being submitted. Speaking comprises of a combination of role plays and presentations in the target language together with a discussion on a series of questions taken from a specific list.
At present all students taking German enter at Higher Tier level.
