Maths Years 7 to 9
Girls in Years 7-9 study in each term a balanced mathematics curriculum across the areas of number, algebra, shape and space and data handling. Pupils are placed in two or three sets according to departmental assessments from the first half-term and these placements are reviewed throughout the courses.
The emphasis of the teaching is to assist the girls' understanding, to enjoy the subject and to develop each girl's confidence in her mathematical progress. The higher sets follow a curriculum which broadly covers the Level 6 (Year 7), Level 7 (Year 8) and Level 8 (Year 9) sections of the National Curriculum.
During the courses girls are encouraged to develop their problem solving skills in more open-ended tasks.
