Biology GCSE
At GCSE Biology is offered either as part of the Additional Science option (2 GCSEs equivalent) where it represents a third of the course, or as three Separate Sciences where one whole GCSE is Biology. The exam board we are following is AQA.
There are three modules at GCSE. The first two are covered by students undertaking Additional Science and Separate Biology whilst the third one is just for those students sitting Separate Biology. Unit one is completed in year 10 and an external exam taken in the summer term. This helps to spread the revision load. Students also have to undertake an ISA in each subject. This is a piece of practical work, carried out during lessons, which is then followed up by a written assessment of analysis and evaluation skills.
