Staffed by a team of enthusiastic specialists, we aim to improve students' enjoyment of and engagement with all aspects of English. Leweston not only helps the girls to pass exams to the best of their ability but also makes them realise that English means more than a paper qualification.

The subject is taught throughout the school with Years 7 to 9 working to the Department's own schemes stretching further and deeper than the requirements of the National Curriculum.

Girls are encouraged to take advantage of the regular visits arranged to the theatre, to poetry workshops and readings and literary lectures, and to participate in public speaking and creative writing competitions and debates.
