Sciences

The Science Department at Leweston is committed to making the subject exciting, up-to-date and relevant, recognising that it must appeal to both those who wish to specialise in it later and those for whom it is part of a broader education.

The school has a well established science reputation and a very good record of academic success at GCSE, A Level and Oxbridge Entrance Standard.  Girls are encouraged to read widely and come together with pupils from other schools to take part in and organise Medical and Science societies.  Foreign trips undertaken by the Department include visits to Futurescope and City de Science in Paris and the Smithsonian Museums in America.  For prospective medics every year the Department organise their attendance at the MEDLINK courses at Nottingham University.

The majority of science lessons are taught in the Longford Science Laboratories, a purpose built facility which houses three fully equipped laboratories, preparation room and a Sixth Form project room.
