PLEASE NOTE: The A303 will be closed in both directions, near Mere from 9th February for at least 12 weeks. During the closure the following diversion will take place: Westbound traffic will follow the A350 to Shaftesbury and then along the B3081 to rejoin the A303 at Wincanton. Eastbound traffic will be diverted from the A303 at Podimore roundabout and follow the A37, A361 and A36 via Shepton Mallet and Frome before rejoining the A303 at Deptford.
Getting to Leweston
Travelling to Leweston is more convenient than you might imagine. Situated 3 miles south of Sherborne it is just over 2½ hours drive from London, with easy access to Heathrow, Bristol and Southampton airport. Sherborne is on the direct main railway line from Waterloo Station, and takes approx. 2 hours.
Travelling to Leweston by Road
From London If your home is south or west of London aim for the M3. At junction 8 take the A303 and continue to the Wincanton junction. Take the B3145 to Sherborne and follow directions to Dorchester on the A352. Leweston School is signposted on your right approx. three miles outside Sherborne. Journey time in normal motoring conditions is 2 hours from the M25/M3 junction to Sherborne. From Southampton/Portsmouth/Chichester Take the A36 from Southampton to Salisbury following directions to the A303. Then proceed as from London.
From South Wales and Bristol Take the A37 from Bristol to Shepton Mallet, then the A371 to Castle Cary and Wincanton. Take the B3145 to Sherborne and proceed as from London.
From the West Country Either M5 to Taunton (Exit 25), then the A358 to the A303 and finally A3088 to Yeovil, or A30 to the A303 then A3088 to Yeovil. From Yeovil, take the A30 dual carriageway to Sherborne. Follow directions to Dorchester on the A352 and Leweston School is signposted on your right approx. three miles outside Sherborne.
Travelling to Sherborne by Rail
Sherborne is two hours from Waterloo; 90 minutes from Woking; 75 minutes from Basingstoke; 60 minutes from Andover; 40 minutes from Salisbury. There are 14 trains daily. Rail/Air Link from Heathrow. Coaches operate every half-hour (9am-7pm) between Heathrow airport and Woking.
