U15 National Cross-Country Champions!
Leweston School U15 Cross-Country Team of Chloe Taylor, Siobhan Stewart, Poppy Booth, Charlotte Hooper, Sophie Hawkins and Rebecca Head have won the National Cross-Country Cup Schools Competition which was held at Shepshed High School in Leicestershire on Dec 6th.
The U15 team qualified for the final after finishing second of 48 teams in the South West Regional heat which was hosted at Leweston in November. In the final Leweston beat the 23 other schools who also qualified in their regional rounds to win the National Competition.
Leweston’s Headmaster Adrian Aylward said “This is a wonderful achievement that reflects the girls’ self discipline and enthusiasm. They won because they ran as a team, we are immensely proud of their achievement”
Leweston has a long history of success in Cross-country. In 2006 the school team finished as runners-up in the National Championships which were then held in Bolton. This result builds on this success.
