Sport
Physical education and sport are essential ingredients in the daily life at Leweston and committed and enthusiastic team players of all ages represent the school every week in our major sports. The school takes its matches very seriously and practice and coaching is available all year round.
The school currently fields teams in hockey, netball, tennis, cross-country, swimming, rounders, athletics, biathlon, trampolining, show-jumping and one-day eventing.
We regularly achieve excellent results in cross-country. Last season several Leweston girls represented Dorset in the South West Championships as well as the English Schools Championships and Inter-counties. Chloe Taylor was voted Dorset Independent Schools’ Female Athlete of the Year, with another Leweston girl, Poppy Booth as runner-up.
Leweston teams regularly compete in county hockey finals and last season several girls were also selected for the county team. The Under 16 team qualified for the West Indoor Hockey Tournament.
Leweston teams are currently County champions in cross-country and biathlon events and are North Dorset Champions in Under 12 netball, Under 14 tennis and Under 13 athletics.
Sports Studies are offered at both GCSE and A Level for further information click here.
