Report of the Day
Saturday morning dawned and the sun was shining - what a relief as last year we awoke to fog and the year before to drizzle.  As we rushed around putting up the final signs and checking the courses,  the first competitors started to arrive.  The competition was due to start at 9am and amazingly the first rider came into the ring bang on time.

Ring 1 jumped well for Class 1, which was for children aged 10 years and under, but Ring 2 presented slightly more challenges resulting in only 24 of the 44 riders getting round!  Please be assured that next year the course will be shorter and less technical for Class 1.   The winner of the team competition was Leaden Hall, the only team to finish on a zero score, followed by Port Regis with 4 and Beaudesert Park School Green on 16.  The individual winner was Zoe Davison from Beaudesert Park School over 5 seconds ahead of Alice Uloth from Leaden Hall followed by Esme Diment from Sticklands, Evershot.

In Class 2, for children aged 12 and under, there was a large entry of 13 teams.  Four teams finished on a zero score so it came down to time and the winners were The Gryphon team, second were Sunninghill and third were Leaden Hall.  The individual winner was Georgia Buckland from The Gryphon, 2nd Tilly Newman from Chilton Cantelo and 3rd Rebecca Coombes from St Andrew’s Yetminster.

In Class 3, for children aged 14 years and under, we decided to add a water tray in front of the last fence in ring 2.  This caused a number of ponies to think twice about jumping it!    There were only two teams on a zero score but both were from the same school.  The Gryphon Blue team emerged the victors with The Gryphon Red team coming second and Leweston third.  The individual prizes this time were Tilly Newman from Chilton Cantelo 1st, Georgia Buckland from The Gryphon 2nd and Katherine Rolls from King Arthur’s, Wincanton, 3rd.

Many thanks to everyone for coming and supporting our event and we look forward to seeing you all again next year on Saturday 25th September 2010.
