 A Level/Cambridge Pre-U

2017 result highlights:

    • 44% at A* and A grades compared to the national average of 26%
    • 71% of exams were passed at A* – B or Pre-U equivalent
    • 23% of students gained A* or A grades in 3 or more subjects
    • The largest number of entries again in the highly academic subjects of Maths and Psychology with the Sciences and History close behind.
    • Geography, French and Latin celebrated a pass rate of 100% at A* and A
    • 50% of all Maths and Psychology exams at A* and A grades
    • 100% of Economics and Physics exams at A* to B grades.
    • 57% of examinations were based on the new A Level system and subject to a new syllabus

GCSE

2017 result highlights:

      • Best GCSE results in four years despite substantial reforms to the GCSE syllabus and grading system.
      • Over half of examinations achieved an A or equivalent and above with 27% at A* or equivalent.
      • 81% of all exams were A* to B or equivalent.
      • 100% pass rate in the standard measure of 5 A* to C grades or equivalent.
      • In the new, more demanding, English and Maths exams 17% of grades awarded were at grade 9 compared to a national pass rate of 3.2% in English Literature, 2.2% in English Language and 3.5% in Maths.
      • Only 2000 pupils nationally achieved grade 9s in all three new papers, 2 of whom were Leweston pupils.
      • Three local pupils gained 21 A*s, 14 grade 9s and 1 A** between them.
      • One pupil is celebrating 100% in German, Religious Studies and Geography.
      • 22 different subjects on offer at GCSE in 2017.
      • 10 different departments achieved a 100% A*-B (or equivalent) pass rate including Physics, Biology, Further Maths, Fine Art, Music, Drama and Religious Studies.
