Seven of Leweston’s students took part in the World Laser-Run Championships in Dublin, representing Great Britain. The Laser-Run is a continuous Shoot to Run and this event is one of the elements in the Modern Pentathlon, run by the world’s governing body, Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM).

The Leweston School competitors had some great results, in the U11 boys Charlie O. finished 18th but as an Under 9 has many years left in the age group, in the Under 11 girls Evanna B. had a good race to finish 11th. Ginny B. raced hard to finish 7th in the Under 13 and was part of the GB team of 3 to take a team silver, with Molly C. 19th.

In the Under 15 there was a big field and Darcy D raced hard with the lead changing throughout the race but at the end took the Gold Medal to be the Under 15 Girls World Champion. She was also part of the Gold Medal winning team with Lucie G. who finished 23rd.

In the Under 17 Issy C. had some misses in the first shoot which put her in 27th going into the first run but then worked determinedly through the field throughout the rest of the event to finish 7th.

The results at the World Laser-Run Championships were a great achievement by all the Leweston School competitors, and we were delighted to have the first boy, Charlie O., Year 4, from the School to run in a GB vest.
