Year 7 have been learning new map skills in their Geography lessons this term and last week they studied three different ways to measure height on a map.

Students explored Spot Heights and Triangulation Pillars, Contours and Layer Shading. They then used what they had learnt to make their very own potato hills! The students started by making 1cm contour lines and then went on to add colour as well as triangulation points or spot heights.

Year 7 had lots of fun bringing what they had learnt to life and it was a fantastic way to visualize how these techniques work on OS maps!
