Leweston Sixth Form students have produced artwork for #1Life1Voice Stop Modern Slavery project during their General Religious Studies lessons this term. Their work will be displayed in Salisbury Cathedral 15 – 25 October with the exhibition located in the Chapter House with the Magna Carta.
The #1Life1Voice Stop Modern Slavery project is a joint project involving schools, parishes and Salisbury Cathedral. ‘By understanding modern slavery in a community context we can expose it, make sure it’s seen and find safe ways of disrupting it’ – The Clewer Initiative.
The project includes a Young Peoples’ Modern Slavery Art Exhibition, national and regional guest speakers, County Lines training for young people Year 7 to Year 11, and local radio interviews by experts.
The exhibition opening is on Friday 15 October 5pm and Sixth Form students and their guests are very welcome to attend.
18/10/21 – Congratulations to Ellie, Daniel, Lucie and Amalie, who have been awarded 2nd place for their work.
The judges said; “This picture is very clever and well thought through. Behind the privilege and beauty of our modern fashion sits potential exploitation and vulnerabilities. I really liked how the children had conveyed this through the drawing. Very clever. Again I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the teacher for this class.”
