Leweston was delighted to have five pentathletes travel to Beverley Yorkshire to take part in the Yorkshire Pentathlon for their first full Pentathlon competition.
The Pentathlon incorporates the five disciplines; Swimming, Laser Run (pistol shooting and running), Fencing, and Horse Riding. Swimming, laser run, and riding are completed over varying distances, courses, and height jumps depending on age, and fencers use an épée and compete against everyone in the competition. The horses were supplied by the event organiser with each athlete drawing for their horse on the day, they are then given 20 minutes to get used to their horse before jumping the course. Each event gains points which are combined together to determine final placings.
In the Under 13 Boys Charlie O finished in an impressive second, whilst in the Under 15 Girls Jessica S was 3rd, Fenella T 5th and Amelia O 10th. In the Under 15 Boys category Reuben C achieved 3rd place.
These results were a fantastic accomplishment for our competitors at their first full Pentathlon and they should each be proud to be able to compete in a full Pentathlon at such a young age, whilst also gaining and learning so much from this event.
