NSEA Eventers Challenge Qualifier at Pontispool Equestrian Centre, Taunton 7 November 2021

The NSEA Eventers Challenge event is a mixture of show jumps and fixed cross-country fences within the same area. The course at Pontispool has been greatly extended and has become a demanding track with water, drops, ditches, slopes and steps which poses many challenges for all riders to face.

Our Team in the 80cm (Jessica, Poppy, Henrietta and Tara) all rode almost foot perfect clear rounds (the only team to do so) winning the class which had 17 teams entered and 70 Individuals.  Poppy Y had a fantastic round and was 4th which mean she qualifies as an Individual as well as in the Team.

The 90cm Eventers Challenge Class had 10 teams and 54 Individuals entered and our teams took 1st place (Loveday, Charlie and Madeline) and 3rd place (Madeline, Hen, Jessica and Poppy), again the course was demanding and required skilful riding to complete the long course.

The 1m was a formidable course and required bold riding and a brave horse, Loveday was sadly eliminated near the end of the course but Charlie was thrilled finishing with just four faults (a pole on the SJ) and Madeline rode both her horses to finish, taking Individual 4th on Rocky, therefore qualified herself as Individual at this height for the NSEA Hickstead Championships in May 2022.

Congratulations to all our hardworking riders, horses and supportive parents for making the trip and achieving great results as for some combinations it was the biggest challenge of their riding career.
