On 23 January, riders from Leweston School had a very early morning start at NSEA Eventers Challenge at Bicton Arena.
Congratulations to all four girls, Jessica, Josie, Ruby and Henrietta who rode at their very best and producing four brilliant clears in the 70-75cm class. With three of our riders in the top 4, the team won easily gaining their qualification for the Hickstead Championships in May. Henrietta and Pollyanna Gold were nearest the optimum time (1st) and Ruby with Liscannor Prince were 2nd.
Team Navy took the win and qualification and Team Marine 4th. Congratulations to Tara, Maisy, Jessica and Madeline (Team Navy) and Hen, Molly, Poppy and Madeline (Team Marine).
The Open 1m – 1.05 had some challenging XC fences which all rode really well but gave Madeline, Charlie and Molly a few nervous tingles. All three girls rode the daunting XC phase with determination but a few poles rolled in the show jumping. Team Leweston Steel took 2nd place, achieving that all important qualifying spot. Congratulations to Molly and Herbie (4th), Charlie and Quinn (6th) and Madeline and Mickey (9th) and Rocky (7th).
In only their second competition for the school this new partnership qualified with a well timed clear round in the 80-85cm taking 2nd place and qualifying for the Championships. Well done Maisy you gave Tihui Sept a brilliant ride.
Well done to all our riders, who once again did fantastic and represented the school so well. A comment from one parent at the event was “It was a real pleasure watching them ride as a team today. Calm, confident, accurate and respectful. A real credit to the school and their parents”.
