The Leweston Triathle Championships took place on Sunday 15th May, with 155 athletes competing from around the country. The Triathle involves the disciplines of running, laser-shooting and swimming over a combination of continuous laps.  This particular competition was a qualifying event for the European Triathle Championships and an opportunity for athletes to gain selection for the GB Triathle Team.  The European Triathle Championships will take place in Greece during October.

Leweston School had 10 athletes taking part in this competition and the pupils achieved some exceptionally good results.

In the U11 girls’ event, Izzy K, (Prep 4) had the best result of the day to finish 2nd in her first ever Triathle competition.

A number of Prep 6 pupils took part in the U13 race. Katrina S finished 7th, Freya D was 16th and Cecelia B was 19th.

In the U15 race, which had one of the strongest fields of competitors, all of our Year 8 pupils performed strongly.  Izzy W finished 9th, Jess S was 12th, Esme L was 14thand Evanna B finished 16th.

In the U17 competition, Molly C, Year 10, had an excellent race to finish 4th, whilst Millie W (Year 10) competed well to finish 7th.

From this event, both Izzy and Molly have been selected for the GB Team, with Katrina and Mille being named as First Reserves.

Well done to all of the Leweston School pupils who took part during some very wet and windy conditions! The next events for the Pentathlon Team is the South West Schools Laser Run Championships on Sunday 12th June and the National Schools Biathle Championships on 19th June.  Both events are to be held at Leweston School.
