Molly C, Year 10 has had a fantastic week in sport with many accomplishments to be celebrated!
On Saturday 7 May, Molly was part of the School Athletics Team that travelled to the Millfield School Open Invitation Meet. Molly chose to compete in four events on the day and finished 2nd in the High Jump (1.35m) and then managed a new personal best performance in both the hurdles and 300m.
On Thursday, Molly was amongst almost 60 pupils from Leweston who competed at the North Dorset Athletics Trials in Yeovil. Molly won both her 800m and 300m events, gaining qualification for the Dorset County Championships in June.
On Saturday 14 May, Molly was a member of the Leweston Equestrian Team who had qualified as one of the top 20 schools in the country to compete at the NSEA Show Jumping Final held at the very prestigious Royal Windsor Horse Show. Molly rode a magnificent clear round on her horse, Herbie, helping her team achieve a remarkable 2nd place! Herbie had previously qualified for this event with Molly’s elder sister, Issy (Year 13), but for a variety of reasons the pair had never quite managed to actually compete at Windsor. So this was a very special moment for all of the family!
Finally, on Sunday 15th, Molly competed in the European Triathle Qualifying Championships, organised and hosted by Leweston School and Leweston Pentathlon Academy. This was Molly’s first pentathlon event for some years, as the Covid pandemic had prevented competitions from taking place. Molly ran, shot and swam exceptionally well to finish in an impressive 4th place. This was enough for her to gain selection for the Great Britain team, who will travel to Greece for the European Championships later in October!
