Nationals Schools Pellet Shooting Finals 2023/2024

Leweston School had great success at the National Schools Shooting Finals at Cannock Chase Leisure centre, with 9 shooters from the school taking part. The school was represented in every age group, entering one Junior individual, one Intermediate team, and two Senior teams. Leweston travelled up the day before for a practice session, using the new British shooting target and scoring system. The shooting competition starts with a prelim and team round, and the shooters have 5 minutes shooting warm up, followed by 20 shots in 20 minutes to achieve a total score. The top 8 shooters then go forward to the finals, and the team score made up of three team members’ scores added together, decide team positions.

The day started at 09:00 with Katrina taking part in the Junior individual, just missing the final to finish 14th. The next competition was the Intermediate event, the Leweston Intermediate team shot well; Henrietta 162, Lucy 157, Evanna 155 to win the Intermediate team trophy and crowned National School Champions! This is the third year that Leweston has brought home this title in this category.

The last event of the day was the Senior competition. Once again, the team had some good shooting results with Honor, Grace, and Reuben finishing Team 5th.  The B Team; Miller, and Amelia finished Team 9th. Once again the school competed brilliantly at the National Championships and continues to be ranked as one of the top school shooting teams in the UK.
