We have arranged an Anglo-Saxon Wow Day for Prep Four on Wednesday 08 March.
The children will become an Anglo-Saxon for the day, discovering how Anglo-Saxons lived, worked and travelled. Our visitor will bring replica artefacts from daily life such as tools and clothing, as well as weapons and armour so that children can learn about war, conquest, immigration and settlement. They will take part in the shield wall to defend their village – or attack someone else’s!
They will hear about the early Anglo-Saxon Gods, and discover the new religion of Christianity. There will also be the opportunity to learn about law and order, crafts and skills, writing including runes and manuscripts, and the birth of the English language. Discover the people who shaped the age, from Raedwald and Offa to Alfred the Great and Harold Godwinson, and find out how everything changed in 1066.
There will be a charge of approximately £19.35 for workshop.
