The School Day
Pupils arrive at school from 8.00am with registration at 8.15am when pupils and teachers talk about the day ahead. There is also breakfast club for children who need to be dropped off early for parents to get to work which incurs a small daily charge.
We have whole-school assemblies once/twice a week and mass on Wednesdays. All pupils from Reception upwards take part giving presentations, reading or serving in Chapel and choosing topics and speakers. This builds their confidence in public speaking and teaches them organisational skills as well as bring issues from the wider world into their consciousness. Families are welcome to attend both the assemblies and Mass.
All classes have break time at 10.45am which is outside in the walled garden. Children are also given a healthy snack. A healthy hot lunch is served for Pre-Prep at 12.00pm and Prep at 12.30pm in the School Dinning Hall. The pupils sit on class tables and are supervised by a member of staff where there is an emphasis on good table manners and healthy choices. Once a week all pupils sit in Houses which provides another opportunity for the pupils mix and for the older pupils to take increased levels of responsibility.
The end of the day is at 4.20pm when children are either collected or go onto after-school care. All pupils staying after school have a savoury snack before activities start. For Pre-Prep suitable activities are provided either in the after-school play room or outside depending on the weather. Prep pupils take part in their chosen activities from 4.40pm until 5.30pm when they can take a further half hour to complete their homework leaving at 6pm.
