On Sunday 5 May Leweston Pentathlon Academy hosted the South West Triathle Championships at Leweston School. The event was also a Qualifier to select a Great Britain team for the European Triathle Championships in Madeira on 28-30 June. The Triathle is a continuous Shoot-Swim-Run and the distances are completed two or four times dependant on age. 140 competitors took part in the various age groups, including 18 athletes from Leweston School and 56 Leweston Pentathlon Academy club members.
Congratulations to Minnie M who finished 3rd in the U11 category and Charlie O who came 3rd in the Boys U11. Leweston had the most competitors in the U13 Girls category which proved a very competitive race. However, Molly C raced hard and took Silver, Millie W 5th, Nikita M 6th, May S 9th, Cecily F 15th, Evanna B 16th, Isabelle W 19th, and Amelia O 22nd. Darcy D raced hard to take Gold in the U15 Girls, with Ginny B finishing 4th.
In the U15 Boys Freddie G finished 10th and Archie C took Gold which is a fantastic achievement, especially as this was Archie's first Triathle. In the U17 Girls Lucie G raced well and took Bronze.
Leweston had great success with 9 athletes gaining selection for the Great Britain Team. Congratulations to Minnie M, Charlie O, Molly C, Millie W, Nikita M, Darcy D, Archie C, Ginny B, & Lucie G who will be part of the Great Britain team in Madeira. Another excellent achievement for Leweston's athletes.
