At the start of this summer term all aspects of Leweston School's provision for Senior School and Sixth Form students will be delivered online over the Leweston Online Learning platform.
The Senior School will be using the Microsoft Office package that the pupils are most familiar with to deliver a mixture of real-time guidance and teacher support with offline and independent study. Learning will take place within the existing timetable and will allow for some downtime from screen usage.
Year 11 pupils will undertake an Extended Project Qualification as well as pre A-Level and seminars. Year 13 will start preparing for their university courses. We will also be encouraging the examination years in the use of MOOCs (online free courses) which foster independence and interest in a huge variety of subjects.
Pastoral care for pupils will continue to be delivered through the tutor system. Tutors and Heads of Year will be in regular contact with their students including regular assemblies, tutor meetings and one to one interaction.
Those students receiving support from the Individual Needs Department will have access to daily drop-in sessions and there will be help with organising and managing their workload as well as for specific tasks, as necessary.
For students who are currently overseas all interactive teaching sessions will be recorded so those unable to join 'live', for whatever reason, will be able to access them at a convenient time. Mrs Taylor will be helping pupils who receive EAL support to structure learning plans as well as providing individual lessons and group tutorial support.
Elements of the lunchtime and after-school activities programme will continue and the Activities Booklet is available on the website.
