Leweston is situated three miles outside of Sherborne, Dorset surrounded by beautiful countryside in the heart of Hardy’s Wessex.

Sherborne is one of the most stunning towns in the County with an abundance of medieval buildings, nationally famous Abbey, picturesque Almshouse and two Castles. It regularly appears in film and on television and most recently was the location for Far from the Madding Crowd. An ancient market town Sherborne is still home to a thriving farmers market, independent shops and busy community. More information about the town, including places to stay can be found at www.sherbornetown.com

Only half an hour away from Leweston is the Jurassic Coast, England’s first World Heritage Site. The 95 mile coastal stretch between Exmouth in East Devon and Studland Bay in Dorset provides stunning cliff walks and secluded bays with plenty of opportunities for fossil hunting. A fantastic resource for Geography and Biology fieldtrips and well as fun days on the beach www.jurassiccoast.org

The School also has Dorset’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close by as well as countless museums, galleries, National Trust properties and Natural Reserves. www.visit-dorset.com

All this makes Dorset a popular place for relocation and pupils who join Leweston are often moving to the area with their families. The Admissions team are happy to co-ordinate visits with house-hunting and other trips to the area. We recommend the excellent Blackmore Vale Magazine as a popular local publication with information about What’s On, local businesses and estate agents. We can also put parents in touch with families already in the School who are happy to answer questions and organise meet ups during the holidays.
