Fast Track Admissions

Sometimes the decision to move a child to a different school happens not at the start of a year group but in the middle of one, and sometimes with very little notice. A term that has not gone well, a family move that has changed what is practical. Whatever has brought you to this page, we understand that the timing is not always neat and the conversation can feel difficult to start.

Leweston Prep is used to welcoming children at points in the year that were not originally planned. When a place is available, we can move quickly, from first conversation to a child starting with us can be a matter of days rather than weeks.

Contact the admissions team by phone or email and tell us as much or as little as you are comfortable sharing at that stage. We will tell you honestly whether there is a suitable place and what the process looks like.

If there is a place, we will arrange for your child to spend time in the school and for you to meet the Head of Prep. We will ask to see a recent school report and will take a reference from the current school in due course, but these will not hold up a decision when the circumstances require speed. In straightforward cases we can complete the admissions process within a few days.

Starting at a new school mid-term requires a little more care than a September start, and we know that. Every child who joins this way is given a current pupil to help them find their feet from day one. The class teacher will have been briefed, and the pastoral team keeps a close eye on how things go in the early weeks. Most children settle more quickly than their parents expect.

If a change of school has come alongside a change of financial circumstances, we are happy to have that conversation as well. Bursary support can sometimes be arranged at short notice.
