A New Adventure Every Day

We know there's a better way for children to grow, one where learning is an adventure and progress matters more than perfection. We offer an education that is exciting, personal and full of discovery, and our pupils are given the confidence to embrace it.

That isn't a description of the activities on offer, it's a description of how a child experiences learning here, and it's built into the structure of how we teach. History, science and literacy aren't separate lessons sat through in sequence, they're threads in the same investigation, pulling a child deeper into something that genuinely interests them.

This term it might be Ancient Egypt, or the rainforest, or the universe. By the end of it, a Leweston Prep child hasn't just covered material. They've followed a question, formed an argument, changed their mind, and come back for more.

Fifty acres of Dorset countryside isn't a backdrop. It's part of the curriculum. Children learn outside, in all weathers, because movement and fresh air aren't a reward for finishing the work, they're part of it. The physical confidence this builds translates, in ways that are hard to measure but easy to see, into everything else they do. 

Nobody can tell us what the world will actually need from these children by the time they're grown. What we can do is make sure they're the kind of people who don't panic in front of the unfamiliar, who'd rather work something out than wait to be told the answer, and who are just as comfortable changing their mind as they were holding it in the first place. That isn't a personality trait a child either has or doesn't, it's something built, one topic, one debate, one muddy afternoon outdoors at a time.
