At Leweston Nursery we nurture, care for and develop the potential of your child, encouraging them to delight in discovery as well as in their own increasing knowledge. Our exceptional learning environment provides the space and experiences for our children to make outstanding progress.
We lay the foundations upon which our children build their school career, and indeed, their adult life. We have been consistently rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted, who state, in their 2022 inspection, that ‘children are cared for very well and make very good progress’.
We are always busy in every corner of the Nursery! The children learn through themes and activities designed to follow their interests and challenge each one to progress onto the next step in their development. Learning and development opportunities are meticulously planned to ensure that every child gets the very best provision, right from the earliest months of their lives. Our highly qualified and passionate staff track the children’s development and skilfully match activities to extend, delight and engage each and every one of them.
Our children also enjoy our beautiful site, complete with forest areas, equestrian centre, over 46 acres of space and an enormous, secure, Nursery garden which boasts a yurt with its own wood burning stove and plentiful climbing and role play equipment. All our pupils go out for a walk every day, regardless of age, watching the seasons and our glorious environment change before our eyes. Whether searching for tadpoles in the pond, chatting with the ponies in the stables or marching down to look out across the county from the Belvedere, there is always somewhere to explore.
We hold high expectations for our children and place a great emphasis on the development of the core skills in personal, social, emotional and physical development and communication and language. As the children grow, a wide range of opportunities for exploration in Maths, Literacy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design are added.
We recognise that children need adults to scaffold their learning wherever possible, so we run an enhanced ratio, providing additional adults across the Nursery as often as possible, which enables us to provide truly exceptional care and early education.
As children approach their school years, they benefit hugely from our enhanced curriculum. Pupils have regular instruction in Music, PE, French, Spanish and swimming lessons, led by our passionate Prep School teaching team. In addition to this the children have weekly Forest School activity sessions and get to try new activities such as gardening, cookery and animal care. The fantastic school facilities for swimming and PE are at our disposal, and we enjoy all our meals, prepared by a team of chefs, in the main dining room.
