Year 9

We understand that Year 9 is a time of change for pupils. New pupils will join us from preparatory schools and everyone will start to consider their GCSE subject choices. In some subjects, pre-GCSE work will commence. It is also a time of change physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually and the Year 9 team are there to support the pupils at this important time.

Year 9 follow the same broad and flexible curriculum as Years 7 and 8 with lessons in English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Computer Science, French, Spanish, Art and Design, Latin, Music, Home Economics, Music, Drama, PE and PSHE.

There is a strong emphasis on working hard, striving for excellence and independent learning; however, we believe that happy pupils are motivated pupils. Students are encouraged to take up all the opportunities that come to them because learning takes place as much outside the classroom as within it.

Lessons are 60 minutes in length and arranged in a two-week timetable cycle to provide flexible subject choice. Pupils are streamed according to broad ability for all subjects.
