Flexible Admissions

Sometimes the right decision cannot wait. Sometimes the right school comes into focus at an unexpected moment. If your family needs to move quickly, we can move with you. Talk to our Admissions Registrar and we will take it from there.

Sometimes life does not work out the way you expect it to. A change of school is rarely something families plan in advance. A move to the area, a change in circumstances, or the realisation that a child's current school is simply not the right fit, these things do not arrive on a convenient timetable.

At Leweston, we are used to working with families who need to make a decision quickly, and we take that seriously. Our admissions process can be completed within days when it needs to be. What does not change, however fast we move, is the care we take to make sure that Leweston is genuinely right for your child and that your child is given every chance to feel settled and supported from the day they arrive.

What the process looks like

When time is short we tailor the process to your family, but it typically involves an initial conversation with Vera Ixer, our Registrar, a visit to the school or a virtual meeting with the Headmaster, a review of your child's most recent school reports, and a short informal assessment where relevant. We can usually complete all of this within a week.

Starting well

Joining a school mid-year takes courage, and we know that. Our pastoral team works closely with every new pupil to make sure they are known, not just as a new face, but as a person, before their first week is out. Where there are gaps in curriculum coverage, teachers address them quietly and without fuss. Beyond the classroom, the breadth of what Leweston offers, equestrian, Pentathlon, music, drama, outdoor education, means there is almost always something that gives a new pupil an immediate place to belong.

Fees and financial considerations

We understand that an unplanned school move can bring financial questions alongside everything else. We are happy to talk through fees, bursary options, and any other practical considerations openly and without pressure. A conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

If you would like to find out whether Leweston could be the right next step for your child, the simplest place to begin is a conversation with Vera Ixer, our Registrar. Email admissions@leweston.dorset.sch.uk or call 01963 211015 or click on the button below:
